Great Lakes is authorised as an insurance company in the UK by the Financial Services Authority, and is permitted to transact all classes of insurance business with the exception of Life.

By virtue of our authorisation, Great Lakes has the ability to conduct business in many other jurisdictions as well as being authorised on a surplus lines basis in the majority of the US states.

We also have branches in Switzerland and Australia.

Great Lakes - our relationship with the Munich Re Group

Great Lakes acts as a facilitator of insurance business for the Munich Reinsurance Group. As a 100% subsidiary of the Munich Reinsurance Company, we enjoy the Group rating . We are an integral part of the Munich Re Group, supporting a gross insurance premium income in excess of £1bn. The Munich Re group is our preferred partner in risk for all our reinsurance needs.
