This page contains information about the proposed transfer of part of the business of Great Lakes to QIEL. The business to be transferred comprises Great Lakes' interest as co-insurer in the motor policies written under the Ensign brand by Lloyd's Syndicate 980 (as leading insurer) during the years 2001 to 2004 inclusive.

The FSA has approved the appointment of an Independent Expert, whose role is to consider and report on the likely implications of the transfer for policyholders of Great Lakes and QIEL. The FSA has also approved the Independent Expert's Report on the transfer, which you may access from the list of documents below.

The High Court of Justice in London will be asked to approve the transfer at a hearing on 30 July 2008.
